Traveling Well

Food and Cocktails that Travel Well (with recipes for both!)

We’re now well into the holiday season, and travel plans and preparations for out of town visitors are in full swing. Whether you are traveling near or far this holiday season, here are some ideas for keeping bellies full and spirits high no matter where you go!

Food for the Soul

Our friend Allison recently made these sandwiches for a get-together, and we can’t stop thinking about them. They are quick to whip up for a crowd if you need to take a break from holiday cooking, or easy to pack in a cooler for a long car ride, take on a picnic, or tuck into a carry-on.

The Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

-mustard

-mayonnaise

-honey

-goat cheese

-fresh basil

-tomatoes

Use a 1-to-1 ratio of yellow mustard to mayo. Add 1/4 amount of honey to the 1-to-1 ratio. Salt and pepper to taste. Spread on French bread with goat cheese. Add salami and top with fresh, basil, tomatoes. Slice into individual sized sandwiches.

Cocktails for the Spirit

We can’t get enough of our Paloma Kit this season. The zingy citrus flavors are sure to make spirits bright even on a cloudy day. We brought it along with us on a recent trip to New York, and it was the perfect companion. It’s easy to pack a Camp jar to make cocktails to share when you reach your destination. If you don’t have three days to let your kit infuse once you get there, you can always speed up the process by filling with liquor and microwaving (just be sure not to let it reach a boil!). This is just one of the reasons Camp Kits are such easy travelers!

The Paloma is amazing when mixed hot, and it makes the perfect cozy cocktail for colder winter days. Fill up a vintage thermos and bring it to a gathering or make it in your favorite mug to wind down after all the guests leave.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz. silver tequila infused Camp Paloma, strained
  • 1 oz. grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz. simple syrup of your choice
  • Lime wheel

Instructions

Infuse your Camp Paloma Kit with silver tequila for three days in the refrigerator (or in the microwave if you don’t have 3 days. Do not boil.).

Pour all ingredients into your favorite mug and microwave for 30 seconds. Stir, taste, and heat for an additional 15 seconds if needed. Garnish with a lime wheel.

No matter where you travel this season, we hope that you experience true connection and community, maybe over a cocktail or two. Happy trails!
